Umar Zakaria Family Band ft. Kat Little

What is the sound of our community? Join Umar Zakaria, Tui award-winning bassist and 2023 CNZ/NZSM Jazz Composer-in-Residence, in creating ‘Family Music’ – a contemplative sonic celebration of lessons learnt locally through music and life in the city of Wellington.

This will be the first in a series of collaborative concerts exploring new sounds and new songs to bring into existence my upcoming album, 'Family Music’. As a valued member of my musical family reading this, you are personally invited to be a part of this creative process as it gradually unfolds before our very ears.

The Umar Zakaria Family Band brings together a constellation of local legends - Elizabeth Hocking, Louisa Williamson, Ayrton Foote, and Shaun Anderson - who will be inspired and challenged by vocalist Kat Little as the first of several family guests and collaborators in this unique series of gigs.
