My name is Elise Curnow and I am have been a certified teacher in the Viniyoga tradition for over a decade.
This is classical yoga in the ancient tradition of Krishnamacharya.
This beginners class will take place at the beautiful Lotus Yoga Centre.
In the class you will be introduced to the breathing technique used in the Viniyoga tradition. The class will explore at depth, the practice of āsana. These are sequenced postures which can be adapted in class to extend and/or support you. The breath and the movements are synchronized, giving you a tool to gauge your capacity on the day of the class. We will end with a guided meditation and myself chanting a classical Sanskrit chant for your relaxation. As the class progresses you will be introduced to more complex āsana, Prānāyāma (breathing meditation techniques), chanting and some yoga philosophy drawn from the yoga sutra of Patañjali.
