Set in a dream world of backstage tour cases, tangled cables and hanging microphones, Sally Stockwell navigates the live wire mess of parenting by using her “fantastic singing voice, ranging from Siouxsie Sioux strength to Grimes otherworldliness,” (Irene Corbett, Theatre Scenes).
With a loop pedal and surprising household objects, Sally fuses earthy electronic soundscapes, edgy striped-back melodies and rich vocal harmonies into a powerful and emotive musical experience.
Performer and creator Sally Stockwell is an award-winning actor, singer-songwriter and theatre maker. With more than 25 years in acting, her screen credits include Outrageous Fortune, Shortland Street and Insiders Guide To Happiness. She amalgamates her love of music and theatre into unique theatre shows and has created a number of critically acclaimed works. She released her first album, Weightless in 2015.
“I never got to see Patti Smith, but I saw Sally Stockwell” - Katie Wolfe, audience member.
This show is for all those who are a mother, know a mother, or have a mother. It confronts the unfinished business of feminism with honesty, humour and the beating heart of love and validation.
