This project is to showcase lovely art called Jogakbo (traditional Korean patchwork, mainly using scrap pieces of fabrics) by Atti’ Pōneke group. Atti’ means friends in Korean, and we all share a passion for Jogakbo. We now call Aotearoa our home, but knowing our roots and being proud of who we are is crucial. We see Jogakbo as a way of expressing our identity. Each scrap piece of fabric represents the individuals, but those pieces are gathered to create a wonderful harmony and balance, just like multicultural Aotearoa. We gather twice a month to share ideas and encourage each other while making our pieces. They are 100% handmade using various fabrics (mostly silk) from Korea. It will be an excellent opportunity to showcase our work and unite everyone to celebrate multiculturalism in Aotearoa.

Join us for a workshop on Saturday, January 27th, from 2 pm to 3 pm. The workshop will cost $25 and will focus on making a 'Jumeoni', a traditional Korean pouch. You will get to take your finished pouch home. The workshop is being held to celebrate Lunar New Year and bring good luck for the new year. You can use this pouch to store your valuables and everyday items as a diffuser or as a decoration. If you are interested, please send a direct message to @moonheehan_bojagi.
