Tūngia te ururua kia tupu whakaritorito te tupu o te harakeke.
Set the overgrown bush alight and the new flax shoots will spring up.

Nau mai haere mai, all are welcome to attend our tuakana - teina style rāranga classes. You will walk away with woven taonga at the end of this class no matter what level of learner you are. It is important that everyone turns up on time for karakia (blessing).

TEINA (Beginners)
You will be introduced to tikanga rāranga, how to hauhake (harvest), and begin with putiputi (flowers), then small kōnae (two sided kete), and kono (four sided kete).
For tikanga purposes beginners ticket sales close three days before wānanga giving us time to hauhake for you.

TUAKANA (Intermediate Learners)
Tuakana are expected to hauhake for themselves. You will be introduced to multiple sizes, shapes and ways to close kōnae and kono and move onto waikawa style weaving. During this time you may learn tākiri, kōhua, and basic kete, and other taonga depending on your personal commitment to practice.

*Light refreshments will be provided and you are welcome to bring shared kai.
