The Black Keys have had to cancel their appearance at the Byron Bay Bluesfest and their run of sideshows around New Zealand and Australia.
Drummer Patrick Carney dislocated his shoulder in January when he was slammed into the ocean floor by a large wave while on holiday. Some European tour dates had to be cancelled as a result and since that time his injury has become infected.
The news follows last month's announcement that Lenny Kravtiz, another major headliner, had to pull out due to "scheduling conflicts".
There is no word yet if Band of Skulls, who were due to tour with The Black Keys, will try to complete an Australasian tour while they are in this part of the world for Bluesfest.
