Previously owned Amuri Estate Retreat was run as an environmentally sustainable bed & breakfast. They shared their love of the outdoors, the land, and its history. As the new owners of Amuri Estate Richard and Debra Orr and daughter Vanessa, have extended their vision to create a unique venue which will cater for a variety of events and run alongside our luxury lodge accommodation. Vanessa with her Bachelor of Applied Management (Event Management) and Diploma of Interior Design (Residential) will provide you with a country escape and a place to relax, unwind and come away feeling rejuvenated. 2019 has been a big year for us as we completed and opened our new Wedding and Events Venue while running the family farm in Weka Pass, North Canterbury.

Amuri Estate has three well-appointed rooms and a self-contained one bedroom cottage. All have panoramic views of majestic mountains, the braided Waiau River, high country stations and the quaint village of Hanmer Springs. Guests staying in the lodge can choose between the Molesworth, St James or Rainbow rooms, all named after historic high country stations which can be seen from private patios outside each room. The Wallace Peak Cottage takes its name from the mountain just behind the cottage named Wallace Peak. Amuri is the Maori place name for the area and has two meanings, ‘land of the shining tussock’ or ‘land of the future’.
