Central City Youth Hub

We’re planning to create an indoor hub especially for young people in the central city. A chill and inclusive space to hang out, study, play games, meet people and so much more.
The project comes as part of the Pōneke Promise; a joint programme of work between local government, NZ Police and the local business community. The aim of the Pōneke Promise is to create a central city that is safe, vibrant, and welcoming. To find out more, visit the Pōneke Promise webpage.
One initiative of the programme is to increase community spaces for people in the city. In May 2020 we opened Te Wāhi Āwhina – a community space connecting people with support agencies.
Alongside this, we are also opening a new Community Centre at 107 Manners Street in late 2021. This will be a space open to the wider community, somewhere people can connect with each other and participate in various events and activities.
The Youth Hub will open in March 2022, a safe community space for young people to support activities and foster a sense of belonging in the central city.
