Coromandel Independent Living Trust

CILT - Coromandel Independent Living Trust is dedicated to improving the lives of all people in the Upper Coromandel Peninsula and reducing barriers to participation. We recognise needs in our communities and deliver programmes to address those needs.

Our various programmes include transport assistance to allow people to attend hospital appointments in Thames and Waikato hospitals; social and family services to assist whanau in need; addressing rural isolation, digital connectivity and digital literacy; and programmes to support people with disabilities and other barriers to participation.

We have a family-oriented work culture. As a result of the variety of programmes we offer - and the skilled staff managing them - there is a lot of cross-pollination and support between programmes. Because of our flexibility we are often able to connect people with other services, both within CILT and the wider community.

Starting in 1994 and currently operating out of Tiki House in Coromandel Town, we employ about 30 staff, and have over 50 local volunteers that support our activities. Our transport and disability programmes have become essential to the lives of many people in Coromandel.
