The MANAWATU WOODWORKERS GUILD (INC) was formed in 1987 by a group of people interested in WOODCRAFT, Membership numbers have grown steadily over the years, and the current membership fluctuates between 90 & 100, Members come from the greater Manawatu area and the occupations and ages vary from school students to the retired.

The Club has its own clubrooms which is equipped with a small amount of machinery, a very good library and a shop which offers a range of workshop materials at discount prices. The Shop and Library are open on meeting nights.

A Guest Speaker is organised for Club Nights (3rd Monday of the Month), Members are encouraged to bring recently made items for the Show & Tell display.

Between meetings the members are kept informed with a monthly-newsletter consisting of reports and photographs of recently displayed items.

Each year the Club has one major competition, makes toys for Charity Groups to distribute as Christmas gifts, has a 4 day 'Display and Sale' and organises an Open Day and Inter-club Competition for nine southern North Island Woodworkers' Clubs.

During the year small groups are formed to enable visits to one another's workshops to both share ideas, skills and experiences and to foster development of closer friendships.

The Guild is proud to be a member of the National Association of Woodworkers (NAW). The NAW supports the. Guild in many ways, produces a quarterly magazine and organisers overseas and NZ guest speakers to visit the member clubs as a means of imparting knowledge and challenges to extend the skills of members.
