Ohau is the quiet jewel of the Mackenzie High Country is nestled below the Ohau Range in the Main Divide.
Ohau Snow Fields is all about fun and friendliness where people are important. Being a smaller area you get to know the people on the hill. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere in the Day Lodge is one of community.
The Snow Field is serviced by a double chairlift, a platter and a learners snow mat. The main trails are groomed regularly.
‘The Boulevard’ offers learners and intermediates an easy and fun skiing or snowboarding experience from the top of the chairlift down to the base facilities.
Ohau Snow Fields are a 20 minute drive from Lake Ohau Lodge, about 3.5hours, south of Christchurch and 3 hours, north of Dunedin.
There is a bus that leaves every morning from the Lodge at 9.15am and only returns at the end of the day. The access road provides spectacular views up the valley to Aoraki Mount Cook and overlooking Lake Ohau.
Lake Ohau Lodge is a great place not only to stay, but to base yourself so you can enjoy all the activities the region has on offer. Fishing and Hunting, Bird Watching, Rowing, Kayaking or walking in the Aoraki Mt Cook National Park or the Tekapo Walkway.
Ohau Snow Field is open late June to early October.
