Relating to the sequence of the development of Thames, the museum is in a park setting with modern buildings. It has period rooms with genuine locally used furnishings and clothing.
Boer war guns and relics of both World Wars, mining, kauri timber, foundry and early newspaper displays, miners "cabin", Hauraki Plains farming, beekeeping, pennyfarthing cycles, early Thames cycles, car and railway exhibits make up the rest of the exhibits. There is also a section on early hospital and medicine, schools of early times from 1867 including teaching resources, status and work of women, men's work tools, clothing and accessories up to 1930s, china, Plant Pottery. There is also a large photo collection.
