Hindi Diwas 2019 - Strength in Unity

Wellington Hindi School presents its annual programme on the World Hindi Day, to commemorate the language, its heritage and the rich culture associated with it. Come and celebrate with us. It's a free event, with amazing performances, refreshments, and networking opportunity!

Wellington Hindi School has been providing service to New Zealand since 1992. During this period, we have developed capability to support not only other community based Hindi schools but schools for other languages that operate within their communities in New Zealand. We have also evolved to meet changing needs of our environment. Today, about 60% of our students are from non-Hindi speaking backgrounds, with ages ranging from preschool to adults. The common need amongst our learners is increasing familiarity with Hindi language and Indian culture to better connect with locals. Some learners, including adults have expressed interest in the growing engagement between New Zealand and India, interest in development work in South Asia, and growing relations and friendship with Indians.

An event such as ours is an opportunity to bring the wider community together to celebrate our students’ successes, and the growth and evolution of our school. We'd be honoured to have you at our programme, which will be an insight into what similar community based language and culture schools are doing to maintain their identity while sharing and integrating to enriching our multicultural New Zealand.
