Come celebrate Matariki season with your community!

Hangi will be provided at the cost of $3 or donation of non-perishable food to stock up the food bank at Victory Community Centre.

The focus of this year event is Te Wairepo awa.

E Kore a repo ki te kore a rauropi (without the marshlands there will be no life) - An Interdependence of all things living to the environment for the well-being of the whole.

Te Wairepo is our awa. It once flowed through this area giving life and sustenance to the many life forms that flourished as it made its way towards Te Aorere.

Waitī is one of nine Matariki stars. She is the kaitiaki of freshwater environments. The kaupapa of this years Matariki celebrations is to remind ourselves as kaitiaki of our community to never forget to listen and learn from the story that our awa Te Wairepo has to tell us.
