A feature of Summer At The Shed. Celebrate summer arts in Palmy!

I am excited to welcome Su Hart back to Palmerston North.
Su is an international singer and inspiring song leader & has been working with the Baka people of Cameroon for over 20 years.

The Baka live in the Cameroon rainforest and are a hunter-gatherer tribe with an extraordinary tradition of polyphonic multi-rhythmic singing, which accompanies most of their daily tasks and rituals and plays an important role in keeping their culture strong. They have no professional musicians & music is embedded in every aspect of life. This collective forest music enchants animals, brings unity, heals arguments and illness, soothes the children, and is great rhythmic fun!

Su works with all ages and abilities and has an upbeat inclusive style. The Baka people have asked her to share their culture with the world.

Baka Rainforest singing deepens your awareness of sound, enhances co-operative listening & helps you to increase the power of your own voice and the blend between voices.

Come along to learn beautiful interlocking songs & rhythms of the Baka Pygmies of the Cameroon. Not to be missed!

Royalties go back to the Baka through the charity Global Music Exchange for projects in the forest.
