Sessionable Sunday: Peyton Morete

Peyton Morete is a 16 year old singer songwriter living on the Kapiti Coast. She has been performing regularly for the last six years in the Wellington and Manawatu area. Just recently at Wellington’s Garden Magic Summer City Series. Other large festivals she has been part of include Cuba Dupa and Gladstonebury. Last weekend she was part of the very successful Local Scene.

As well as performing at various venues and music festivals she has won various awards. She performs mainly her own music which deals with lot of issues facing young people today. Her lyrics are very moving and mature for someone of her age. You can’t really put Peyton in a music genre category as her music is soulful, powerful and contemporary with her big vocals.

Last year she entered a song writing competition with Champions of Change Kapiti as they wanted to launch something to help youth at risk. Peyton was fortunate enough to win and has had the song recorded, produced and mixed by Lee Prebble (Surgery Studio) and Barnaby Weir (Black Seeds). This song and two others are available on Spotify and other streaming platforms.
