Soul singer TEEKS will headline his first ever New Zealand show when he joins the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra for a one-off gig at Auckland Town Hall as part of APO’s Session Series presented by Hallertau Brewery.
TEEKS (Te Karehana Gardiner-Toi), is an artist who is making a name for himself as a talented songwriter with an extraordinary, rich and nostalgic voice belying his 25 years. He released the critically acclaimed debut EP The Grapefruit Skies in 2017, and has been nominated for a prestigious Taite Music Prize, a Silver Scroll, and several New Zealand Music Awards, picking up the inaugural award for Best Māori Artist in 2018.
TEEKS will perform a selection of his current and new music in an intimate acoustic concert experience. Composer and arranger Mahuia Bridgman-Cooper has been selected by TEEKS to reimagine his music into full orchestral arrangements.
Doors open at 8pm, with the APO taking the stage around 8.45pm with a short programme of orchestral music. TEEKS will then join the orchestra on stage, after the interval, conducted by David Kay.
