Russian born pianist, Oleg Marshev has built a reputation as one of the most talented Russian pianists of his generation. After completing his Performance Doctorate with Honors from the Moscow Conservatory, he has gone on to great acclaim as an international prize winner, solo performer and recording artist.

The BBC Music magazine describes Marshev as “a phenomenon – master of every mood from strip-cartoon crispness to thundering monster, but above all a controlling sensibility of intelligence and feeling”. On this return visit to Whanganui, Marschev has designed a programme titled “Dialogue – Chopin and Scriabin” – where he matches Nocturnes, Mazurkas and Fantasies by each composer.
