We are excited that the Kapi-Mana Music Festival is back this year at Pataka’s Performing Arts Centre, Porirua.

For any student studying music, the benefits and rewards of performing for their peers, and to an audience, offer a unique opportunity for the student musician to consider many more aspects to performance – beyond technique, beyond playing accurately. Preparing for a performance is a time when the musician begins to develop an emotional connection to the music, not just for themselves, but in ways to use the music as a vehicle for communicating emotion to their audience. This is a skill that is not simply 'learned,' but takes years of experience to hone and refine. The Kapi-Mana Music Festival gives students a chance to develop their skills as musicians and performers with the added benefit of supportive adjudication to further music-making.

For school-aged musicians, they are in the stage of their lives where lifelong passions are born. At the festival, young musicians get to meet and spend time with others who share their passion for music. The Kapi-Mana Music Festival gives these young musicians a platform to present their artistry for others to appreciate and receive affirmation and constructive feedback about their hard work.

We look forward to welcoming the musicians, their families and members of the general public. Entry to the event is anytime throughout the day. Koha appreciated.
