About yoga:
Yoga is a practice that connects the body, mind, and spirit through different body postures, meditation, and controlled breathing.
It helps to improve flexibility, posture, blood flow, build muscle strength, promotes a health life style and so on.
Types of yoga:
Iyengar yoga. Iyengar and ashtanga yoga come from the same lineage – the teachers who developed these styles (BKS Iyengar and the late Pattabhi Jois) were both taught by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya.
Ashtanga yoga, Mysore style, Vinyasa flow, Bikram yoga, Kundalini yoga, Hatha yoga, Yin yoga
About the Teachers:
The main yoga teacher is Chay. He teaches power yoga, what is basically a kind of Vinyasa yoga, is a fast-paced style of yoga, with less breathing work, that's focused on building strength. It also helps burning calories.
About YogaSoc
YogaSoc is a club at University of Canterbury.
We are leading free Yoga and Acroyoga classes in Christchurch, New Zealand.
YogaSoc was founded in 2014 with the goal of introducing as many people as possible to yoga, and connecting the rapidly growing yoga community at UC.
Nowadays we more than classes, we are a community. We organize communal yoga and acroyoga classes and jam to Christchurch community for free to YogaSoc members as well some outdoors events to keep people connected and expand the opportunity to do more acro. We provide fun non-alcoholic events which focus on mental and physical wellness.
