Take a moment to e mahi mō te Taiao, act for nature at Luggate Creek this Conservation Week. Come and learn more about our local ecosystems, help maintain native plants, learn how you can help manage predatory pests and connect with nature alongside Luggate Creek.
On Thursday 8th September, several community groups are banding together to offer an opportunity to get out of the office and lend our environment a helping hand. Bring the team down for the whole session (1-3:30 pm) or just pop along in your lunch break.
Teams of experts from Te Kākano Aotearoa Trust and WAI Wānaka will be on hand to guide you through plant identification and how you can help growing plants thrive in our region, bring your gardening gloves and give it a go. Chat to Wānaka Backyard Trapping and DOC about pest traps or how to complete a 5 min bird count and understand the impacts of our actions by monitoring the waterway with our local ORC catchment advisor at 2 pm.
