Wellington Museum’s monthly after-hours event – Capital Conversations – celebrates the coolest of the capital. Best-selling author, activist and mum Emily Writes joins the conversation in September to share her story, talk about motherhood, and how community in Te Whanganui-a-Tara comes together to lift each other up in times of need.
Emily will discuss her story and experiences with visitors and share personal anecdotes about motherhood. Focusing on the idea of community in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Emily will discuss how community lifts each other up in times of need; rallying together to support one another when we need them most.
Doors open at 5:00 pm, and the talks take place from 5:45 pm onward. The format of the talk will be 30 minutes of Emily talking/presenting, and then a 30-minute Q+A afterwards.
Tickets are $20.00 per person, and ticket price includes one drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and grazing platters throughout the evening. There will also be a cash bar available.

About Emily:
Emily is the best-selling author of Rants in the Dark: From One Tired Mama to Another which was turned into a stage play that toured Aotearoa. She’s the editor of the anthology Is It Bedtime Yet? and her latest book Needs Adult Supervision: Lessons in Growing Up is the long-awaited follow up to Rants in the Dark.
She is currently making a living from her online newsletter (Emily Writes Weekly) subscriber base. She is also the director of Awhi Ngā Mātua – a charity supporting parents of disabled and medically fragile kids.
