Louis Liu is a fifteen year old flautist from New Zealand. He began studying flute at the age of seven and went on to win the Australian Flute Festival Young Artist Competition (under 18 category) at eleven years old, the San Francisco international online flute competition, been awarded the Outstanding Junior Performer at the Galway flute festival, performed in the gala concert of the Guangzhou international flute competition. He frequently takes lessons with Sir James Galway whilst he is in Europe. Upon arriving in Switzerland for a year’s study, he has won two major competitions within two months and solo concerts in Geneva, them being the CNSE Champion du Vent of Neuchatel and having won First Prize with Special Mention at the CSMJ, the national Swiss competition. He has won first prize at the International ONLINE Competition of the German Flute Society and was invited to play in Weimar. Recently, he has won the senior Scholarships from the CLEF organisation. A very prestigious prize arranged by Chiron Group. He has been one of Chiron's students since the beginning of his musical studies and is also a major factor into his success.

This concert is part of the Rising Stars Concert Series 2023. A new Tuesday lunchtime concert series that’s encouraging, supporting, nurturing and providing a performance platform for emerging young musicians.
