Powerhouse drummer or tasteful timekeeper, you decide. Top Kiwi drummer Mark Lockett is set to celebrate his seventh album release, ‘Swings and Roundabouts’. Recorded recently in New York, a chordless quartet also featuring top NY heavyweights David Binney, Duane Eubanks and Matt Penman. Masterful improvisations in a cutting-edge setting.

During lockdown Lockett penned nine original compositions inspired by his love of the past, jazz giant Ornette Coleman and drawing on the modern sound of his contemporaries.

Album was released on 01 Feb 2023 and to celebrate Mark is embarking on a short dash three concert north island outing. Lockett has assembled a smok’n quartet for this Auckland Jazz & Blues Club outing which features saxophonist Roger Manins, and Lion-heart Lockett on drums. Trumpet and double bass TBC
