In her verse novel The Artist, taonga pūoro practitioner Ruby Solly (Kāi Tahu, Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe) explores stories of her Southern whakapapa that travel through generations. In Mokorua, Ariana Tikao (Kāi Tahu) explores her whakapapa, Kāi Tahu origins and language through the journey of receiving her moko kauae. Together they discuss writing family histories and the protection of whakapapa. Chaired by Helen Brown (Ngāi Tahu).
