Songwriter Sessions - Tavita De seymour

Poquito, 11 Tory St are very lucky to have Tavita De Seymour as our special guest host on Thursday 31st August!

Formerly frontman for the 5 piece Wellington band 'Weave', Tavita De Seymour has returned with an eclectic, soulful selection of rhythms, melodies and meaningful lyrics, encompassed within tightly structured and dynamic song frames. Drawing on the influence of Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, and John Coltrane to name but a few, Tavita distills the language and experience of the heart, mind and soul into his music. When not playing solo, these sounds are further enhanced with the colours and backing provided by his band ‘Bay Road’.

A citizen of the beautiful multicultural city of Porirua, Tavita draws Inspiration from his mixed Samoan and Pakeha heritage, as well as the beautiful landscapes of Porirua, in particular Titahi Bay, where you will find him most weekends out walking his beloved fox terrier, Rocky.

Having spent the past 20 years working as a nurse in the field of mental health, Tavita knows all too well the vital importance of music, family, and nature, in maintaining spiritual and mental well-being. It is hoped that in hearing his music, your wairua and well-being will be nourished, revitalised and lifted too.
