Nau Mai Haere Mai!

Come and join us to celebrate Te Tau Hou Māori, The Māori New Year, at the Paihia waterfront this Puanga Matariki!

The waterfront will be buzzing with music, story-tellers and kapa haka from 4pm. Paihia Village Green will have delicious street food offerings plus arts, crafts and music.

The special Puanga Matariki display starts at 7pm and will last approximately 20minutes. You will hear our story, written and narrated by Ngati Kawa Taituha and Heeni Hoterene, with beautiful taonga puoro and waiata. The waka, light and fireworks are choreographed to this narration.

We welcome all to our place to gather, reflect, remember our loved ones who have passed and to make our plans and wishes for the year ahead.

This event was a huge hit last year and we want everyone to enjoy every moment. Best viewing will be along the waterfront from Zane Greys to Bay View Road (north of Zane Greys) and along the Paihia wharf.

Rug up, bring the whole whanau and get together to acknowledge this very special and significant time.
