The Wax Birds

The Wax Birds are back at Brew Academy! There will also be a SPCA charity keg on the go. All the proceeds from said keg will go directly to SPCA, helping furry friends find their forever homes.

Pete and Jo, AKA, "The Wax Birds" are a harmonious acoustic duo, consisting of two vocals and one guitar.
They have resided in Oxford since they moved to New Zealand from Yorkshire, in the UK, back in 2016.
Despite being married since 2005, with every intention of playing music together, it was the 2020 lockdown that finally forced them to pull their finger out and write their own material. They also have a weakness for covering their favourite 70's and 80's songs!
By the end of 2020 they had released "Slow Rise", a slightly Jazz sounding album, recorded from their tiny house. Their sound has since taken on more of a Folky Americana feel which can be heard on the second album "Yellowhammer" which was released in March 2023.
In June 2023, they were invited down to Gore MLT Songwriting Awards for their song "CoParent", to play alongside 9 other finalists. They continue to write and hone their craft and are excited to bring new releases soon.
