The Centenary Celebration salutes the greatest entertainer of the 20th century.
‘The Chairman of the Board’, ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’, ‘The Voice’, Frank Sinatra defined the classic American songbook. He was charismatic, mesmerising and the voice of his generation.
For one night only Frank Sinatra’s music will be brought to life through the outstanding talent of Rick Michel, direct from Vegas, whose performance was praised by Sinatra himself.
Rick Michel is one of Vegas’ premier singers, astounding audiences since the early 1980’s, and has shared the stage with Bob Hope, Rich Little, Mickey Rooney and Kermit the Frog.
Woven together by a moving narrative, original footage, imagery and snapshots of Sinatra’s day, witness the true era of swing as this centenary concert paints a portrait of Sinatra that provides an intimate glimpse of the life he lived... his way.
The concert also features Australian jazz sensation Liam Burrows, of Australia’s Got Talent fame. Liam captivated audiences at the famous Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and has been named Best Jazz Artist at the Australian Music Industry’s Music Oz Awards. He has recently been selected as a semi-finalist for the 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Vocals Competition and will be performing in front of the world’s jazz elite… including Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones and George Benson.
Supported by NZ’s premier Big Band, the Auckland Jazz Orchestra and 12 piece string section, this will be a night to remember.
Take a trip down memory lane, from the songs that had the bobby soxers screaming adulation, through to the poignant raw performances of his final years.
