Award-winning blues rock heroine Gin Wigmore will be making her much-anticipated NZ comeback this January 2020 with two of NZ's soul artists Tami Neilson and Hollie Smith as special guests. The acclaimed all-female powerhouse are set to perform an exclusive summer concert at the prestigious Soper Reserve.
With her distinctive "whisky and dry" voice, Gin Wigmore has firmly cemented herself as one of New Zealand's favourite female artists. After being the first ever unsigned artist and youngest person to win the prestigious International Songwriter’s Contest at the age of 16, Gin became a force in the New Zealand music scene. She took the world by storm with her international debut hit 'Under My Skin', which was soon followed by two consecutive breakthrough singles 'Black Sheep' and 'Man Like That' (from her acclaimed albums 'Holy Smoke' and 'Gravel & Wine').
In 2015, she's released her third studio album 'Blood to Bone' and won her 6th New Zealand Music Award in the process as Best Female Solo Artist. In that same year, she was nominated for her 2nd MTV Music award. By this time, her albums were 6x Platinum and she's released her third #1 in a row. It wasn't just in New Zealand that Gin was recognised—Billboard called her album "intense and uninhibited", whilst Rolling Stone said it's "veering between sweetly tender and hitting with the force of a blunt instrument."
Joining the already amazing lineup is soul songstress, Tami Neilson. Growing up performing across North America with the Neilson Family Band, Tami has already worked alongside music icons such as Johnny Cash, Tanya Tucker, and Kitty Wells. Across her spanning career, she's gained countless music accolades which include: Best Female Artist, Best Country Album, Best Country Song, an APRA Silver Scroll (songwriting) award and Album of the Year nominations. Meanwhile, Auckland-born soul luminary Hollie Smith completes the power trio. After working with numerous bands including Trinity Roots, Fat Freddy's Drop and Detroit dance legend Recloose, Hollie was approached by New Zealand songwriting royalty Don McGlashan to perform on the movie soundtrack 'No.2'. They've recorded the single 'Bathe in The River' that topped the New Zealand singles charts—peaking at #2 and spending 37 weeks on the charts.
Watch out for tickets and don't dare miss Gin Wigmore's electrifying NZ performance this summer!
