The shop that used to be situated on this site was demolished early 2019 to make way for a new town square for Takapuna. As a place to meet, linger and hold events, the new 3,200 sqm town square will consist of this site along with a large section of the current Anzac Street carpark.
The future square is expected to become a focal point for Takapuna and significantly improve the connection between the beach, Hurstmere Green and the shops and bus stops on Lake Road. In the meantime, 38 Hurstmere Rd is being used as a temporary public space for the community and to trial some design concepts for what the future town square could look like.
