Christchurch Eye Surgery is located on the the former site of Knowles Court, an impressive heritage building of grand and regal proportions.
Built in 1910, Knowles Court was designed by architect John Goddard Collins, a former pupil of Christ’s College, and one of four generations of the Collins family who served as architects for Canterbury College and the University of Canterbury. Collin’s impact on the architecture of Christchurch was significant and included the former Christchurch Press building in Cathedral Square, much of the Canterbury College site in Worcester Street, now known as the Christchurch Arts Centre, the Sign of the Takahe and Nazareth House Chapel.
