Celebrate 20th Matariki Maori New Year to welcome the appearance of the Matariki star cluster in the early morning sky at this time of the year. It's time to give thanks for the harvest and remember loved ones.

Matariki celebrations has arrived later than usual in Hawke’s Bay however the spectacular annual fireworks display will lift everyones spirits skyward now New Zealand is at Level 1 after six weeks of the covid lockdown.

It’s school holiday time as well so bring the kids out to a night time feast of food, DJ dance music and fireworks.

Free entry. Gates open 4.30pm. Food trucks, DJ Music, outdoor screen. Fireworks 6pm.

We’re providing hands-free sanitisers on foot operated stands at entry points and QR code posters on food trucks. Mobile phones can record your attendance on the government covid app if the need arises for contact tracing purposes only. Anyone that has concerns about social distancing can tune into FM87.5 on their car or phone radios to enjoy the event music and fireworks to music in real time. Our transmitter has 2km range from the festival site.
