30 The Terrace, Wellington
The church building is a beautiful oasis of spirituality in the centre of the city. People who enter it remark on its beauty and sense of peace. The quality of the silence is almost tangible.
As a venue for musical performances and musical aspects of worship, St Andrew's is considered to have the best acoustics of any performance space of its type in Wellington.
Many non-church people are nervous about even entering church buildings. At St Andrew's we offer many welcoming and inclusive public events that help people experience the church in a positive way, such as through concerts, public lectures, events such as those run by the Book Council and the launch of the Fringe Festival.
The links between the public events held at St Andrew's are part of our identity and mission. We are not simply a "venue for hire": we consider that support of arts and public conversations about social and religious issues are core actions for our community.
We also host public talks and lectures organised by St Andrew's Trust for the Study of Religion and Society.
